Program Supervisor – Youth Home

Position Summary:
PCLS is seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Supervisor – Youth Home to oversee the daily operations of the home. In this vital role, you will be responsible for training and supervising employees, ensuring the home runs smoothly and aligns with Pulford’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Program Coordinator to create a supportive and nurturing environment for the youth in our care. You will play a key role in ensuring that each youth receives the necessary support to maintain their health and has ample opportunities to engage in activities and interests both at home and within the community.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized support plans for youth, ensuring their needs are met and advocating for the development of new services as required.
- Participate in annual reviews of youth progress and maintain positive relationships with external agencies and programs by initiating and building these relationships.
- Actively support and foster natural support networks involving family, friends, and community members, assisting youth in developing interpersonal skills.
- Initiate and facilitate opportunities for youth engagement in community activities.
- Advocate for justice, inclusion, and full community participation while promoting awareness of vulnerable persons' rights.
- Ensure that the health and medical needs of youth are met consistently, liaising with families, support networks, Child and Family Services, and other stakeholders.
- Accurately report and record health and medical information, organize ongoing staff training on health care concerns, and manage medication administration records.
- Promote a positive work environment, provide feedback on performance, address performance issues through progressive disciplinary actions, and manage staff schedules and merit increases.
- Support with recruitment responsibilities such as conducting interviews and providing orientation and training for all new staff.
- Ensure completion and secure storage of records and documentation following Agency policies and procedures and the Department of Families requirements.
- Organize and facilitate regular staff meetings, create schedules, complete payroll, while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensure that all required financial documents are completed and remitted on time
- On Call responsibilities Monday to Friday (24/5) and rotation on call for weekends.
- Ensure the home and appliances/equipment inside the home are maintained well, following fire safety regulations, ensuring the working alone policy is adhered to, and reporting and responding to unsafe conditions.
- Participate in basic maintenance and upkeep of each home and must understand safe work practices and apply them to a home environment.
Qualifications:
Must Have:
- Post secondary education in a related field
- Experience supporting individual(s) with intellectual disabilities.
- Previous leadership experience in a formal or informal leadership role.
- Experience in a position that requires direct, professional communication to peers, managers, and both internal and external stakeholders.
- Training or knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and beliefs.
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check, all done within the last 3 months.
- Ability to be on call 24/5 Monday-Friday, and on call rotating weekends.
- Valid Class 5F Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certificate.
Nice to have:
- Diploma/degree in Child Youth Care, Addictions and Community Service, Family Support, Community Development, Social Work, or related program.
- Prior experience in a position that required critical thinking, problem solving and constantly adapting to new challenges
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (NVCI)
- Mental Health First Aid and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills).
- Experience working from a trauma-informed perspective.

Pulford Community Living Services Inc., a not-for-profit community based organization, was established in November 1986 in response to the closing of a guest home that threatened to leave several people homeless. On December 1, 1986, three people moved from the guest home into their own home on Fleet Avenue, assisted by Pulford.
Since 1986, Pulford has continuously provided housing and supports to persons with a developmental disability. The supports provided by P.C.L.S. Inc. and its employees are intended to encourage and facilitate, to the greatest possible extent, the individual's ability to live and grow in ways that the individual sees fit.
