Role Description
The Economic Development and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for implementing programs and initiatives to encourage business growth and tourism activity in the Township. This includes carrying out Council directives and implementing economic development activities to the benefit of the community and township in coordination with the Township’s and County of Wellington’s Strategic Initiatives. This position develops and maintains the Township's branding across various platforms, including the Township website and social media. Reporting to the Manager of Community Services, this position actively promotes community and downtown revitalization, community investment, business and industrial development, and markets cultural activities.
Qualifications
- Post-Secondary education at the college or university level, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in Economic or Community Development, Business Administration, Marketing, or Social Science.
- Ability to work with and through other people.
- Team Player.
- Highly developed organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with the public and volunteers.
- A highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are essential.
- Experience with designing, updating, and utilizing websites and social media platforms is required; experience in a municipal setting is an asset.
- A highly organized person with flexibility is a must.
- The representative must be able to work well with minimal supervision.
- Ability to analyze, assess, interpret data and situations, compile results, make detailed calculations, investigate problems and accidents, and prescribe solutions.
- Knowledge of Township services, policies, procedures, and bylaws.
- Ability to interpret and administer a variety of regulations, acts, contractual agreements, policies, and guidelines pertaining to business and economic development.
- Good conflict resolution and excellent customer service skills.

The Township of Mapleton is one of the seven lower-tier municipalities that form the County of Wellington. These municipalities are the Townships of Centre Wellington, Guelph Eramosa, Puslinch and Wellington North, as well as the Towns of Erin and Minto. The Township supports a mostly agricultural and rural population of approximately 11,000 residents. Following amalgamation in 1999, Mapleton began to focus on its new vision and mission: "rooted in tradition, growing for the future." Three small hamlets (Drayton, Moorefield and Alma) make up the "urban" centres of the Township.
