Lead Hand (Heavy Equipment Shop)

Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with over 50 years’ experience, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Schedule: 8+ Hours/day, Day Shift, Monday to Friday, Schedule as per Operational Requirements, OT after 8hr/day or 44hr/week

Location: 9175 – 14 Street NW, Edmonton, AB - no direct access to public transportation

Essential: Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditions

Requirements:

  • Personal Reliable Vehicle
  • CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract, Valid Driver’s License

Pre-employment:

  • Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
  • Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation

Lead Hand Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of shop labourer’s and HET’s to ensure schedules and timelines are met
  • Assist H.E.T.’s with troubleshooting
  • Ensure equipment is maintained at the highest standards, in a timely manner
  • Conduct performance and quality checks according to procedure
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture
  • This is a general responsibilities list and does not include all responsibilities required of the position

Lead Hand Qualifications:

  • Experience as a JM HET or Mechanically inclined
  • Three (3+) years’ experience in a lead hand position within a Heavy Equipment Shop
  • Must have previous supervisory experience
  • Must be proficient with CAT E.T., S.I.S., Komatsu, Prosis and Service Advisor
  • Ability to read/troubleshoot and diagnose using hydraulic and electronic schematics
  • Must be open to new learning experiences
