As an Analyst-Business Intelligence within our Analytics Bureau , you will be responsible for the collection, analysis and interpretation of police data to provide real-time data-driven solutions for business insights and support data-driven decision making within the organization through descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Applies various statistical methods and techniques and automates processes for data collection and analysis to aid data-driven decision-making, organizational strategies and initiatives.
  • Designs, develops and troubleshoots all features and functionality of Business Intelligence solutions and platforms.
  • Applies data mining methods and techniques to large organizational data to discover anomalies, patterns, trends and correlations to predict outcomes.
  • Develops and designs data visualizations, dynamic dashboards, statistical data models, algorithms, data mining, queries, reports; handles data requests from FOI, public, internal departments and Chief's Management Group (CMG) to provide and interpret data, assess data quality and implement strategies for data governance.
  • Operates database software to design, govern and maintain internal specialized analytical databases for internal organizational use.
  • Liaises with stakeholders to standardize the delivery, validity and security of dashboards and with end users to ensure data visualizations are contextually valid and provide the correct insight; troubleshooting/questions on Analytics data deliverables, data collection and data analysis on initiatives/projects.
  • Recommends improvements to streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, usability and value.
  • Produces technical and business documentation, guided by statistical understanding, business context and data governance.
  • Remains current on technology developments within fields relevant to current and future Business Intelligence and Reporting initiatives.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

You are someone with:

  • A University Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Statistics or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Data Science Programming Certifications (eg. Python certification, R certification, SAS certification, SQL certification, JavaScript certification, etc.) and Dashboard Development Tools Certifications (eg. Power Bi certification, Tableau certification, WbFocus certification, SpotFire certification etc.) preferred.
  • A minimum of four years’ experience in development of Business Intelligence solutions and Data Science techniques
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of related computer applications pertinent to the function
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of designing and developing dashboards and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
  • Knowledge of database administration, languages and platforms (including cloud) preferred
  • Knowledge of Niche and CAD databases preferred
  • Knowledge of law enforcement preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data warehousing, data model design and SQL Server
  • Database administration.
  • Demonstrated oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated analytical, research methodology and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently

What we offer

The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $71,653.00 to $120,727.00 and is complemented with a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance; and the OMERS Pension Plan effective upon hire. Peel Regional Police offers a highly competitive compensation package; applicants will be considered for the top end of the range ($98,996.00-$120,727.00) based on experience.
