About the Role
The 2nd Class Shift Relief and Maintenance Operator will be a key member of the Operations team by ensuring that London District Energy’s customers are provided with a reliable source of energy by operating in a safe, economical and environmentally sound manner. They will also be expected to perform all reasonable tasks or duties to assist the company as determined by Management. We are seeking a hardworking individual who is passionate about decarbonization and has a desire to play an active role in the transition to clean energy.
Duties & Responsibilities

The 2nd Class Shift Relief and Maintenance Operator will be responsible for their shift and the direct supervision of any staff or contractors working in the plant during their shift.

Operate and maintain all equipment at the plant including but not limited to: 3 boilers, 2 heat recovery boilers (HRSG), two (2) 15Mw gas turbines, 4 steam turbines, 3 centrifugal chillers, 1 single stage hot water absorption chiller, 1 two stage steam absorption chiller, 5 cooling towers, water treatment systems, computer control systems (DCS) and other plant related equipment.

Monitor various customer sites for steam supply and pressure.

Perform all regular checks on plant equipment as required.

Utilize the plant computer control system to monitor and operate plant equipment to ensure efficient and reliable energy delivery to the Company’s customers.

Operation of the plant, distribution system and any related equipment.

Participate in regular cleaning of the plant and the equipment.

Perform all duties consistent with safe work practices as is generally practiced in industrial environments and in accordance with Enwave’s safety practices, policies, and procedures.

Approve the issue of safe work permits to plant maintenance personnel and outside contractors in accordance with the Company’s safety policies.

Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the company’s safety policies.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience
-
Applicants must possess a valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification for Operating Engineer 2nd Class, or 3rd Class and in active pursuit of their 2nd class certification.

Applicant must demonstrate knowledge of energy production, heat transfer and distribution concepts.

Excellent physical condition to meet the physical demands of the position.

Previous maintenance experience would be an asset.

Computer literacy: applicants must be proficient with technology and computers.

Available to work continental shifts.

Must be able to enter confined spaces, work at heights, operate scissor lifts/boom lifts and fork lift and demonstrate competence in Lock Out/Tag Out procedures

Hold a valid Ontario drivers license in good standing.

Ability to work in a dynamic environment which requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
