About the role
The Diagnostic Sonographer I performs standardized and complex ultrasound procedures for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. The Diagnostic Sonographer produces images of high diagnostic quality in an efficient and safe manner while attending to the diagnostic and care needs of patients undergoing procedures. The Diagnostic Sonographer is responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or recognized equivalent required. Registration with Sonography Canada (CRS) is required. BLS (Level C- Health Care Provider) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP). American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
Preferred Qualifications:
Up to two years’ experience as a Diagnostic Sonographer in a medium to large hospital. Must be capable of performing all routine imaging procedures and able to adapt to new techniques. Self-motivated with strong organization skills. Must possess high degree of confidentiality. Able to work under pressure in emergency situations. Able to assess patient capabilities and limitations and make adjustments in procedures when necessary.
