Join Beacon Community Services as a Housekeeper in the Better at Home program, a great opportunity to provide housekeeping services to older adults on the Saanich Peninsula. This casual position allows for a flexible schedule, where you can set your hours and days of work. Days/Hours of Work: Days and hours can vary. 2-8 hours per day, set your schedule
Location: Various locations on the Saanich Peninsula (Sidney, Central Saanich, North Saanich). Must have own transportation.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager of Community Services, the Better at Home (BAH) Housekeeper provides cleaning services for older adults, helping them remain independent in their homes. The Housekeeper is integral to the Better at Home team, providing housekeeping services for older adults and building one-on-one relationships.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide light housekeeping services to seniors who are living independently in their own homes. Services may include
- Dusting, vacuuming and mopping floors
- Clean kitchen floors, counters, and sink
- Check and clean the refrigerator
- Bathroom sinks, tubs, showers, counters, toilets, and floors
- Do laundry, make beds, and change bed linens
- Clean windows
- Visits can vary between 1-3 hours
- Call clients the day before an appointment
- Submit brief monthly client reports
- Other duties as required
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience cleaning homes
- Experience working with seniors is considered an asset
- Physically able to perform all cleaning tasks listed
- Must have a reliable vehicle
- Class 5 driver's license
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong English language skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Beacon Community Services serves vulnerable populations including seniors, people with disabilities and children. Protecting these people and our teams on whom they rely is critical to us. Accordingly:
- All successful applicants must consent to a Solicitor General’s Criminal Record Check
- All successful applicants are required to disclose their COVID-19 vaccination status upon hire. Depending on future public health developments, Beacon may implement a vaccination requirement as a condition of ongoing employment for all our workplaces.
