Required
- Post-Secondary School Education in medical secretary/medical transcription or equivalent combination of education (minimum of grade 12) and relative working experience.
- Medical Terminology course completed through a recognized college.
- Previous experience in booking diagnostic procedures and/or patient registration.
- Must have demonstrated typing and other basic clerical skills including computer/word processing, e-mail and faxing experience.
- General knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Must have good communication skills and the ability to deal courteously and effectively with physicians, patients, and other health care staff.
- Must be able to accept direction and work with minimum supervision.
- For internal candidates, disciplinary and attendance records will be considered.
Duties
- Books appointments for patients and physicians’ offices for all diagnostic procedures.
- Calls/faxes physicians’ offices with patient appointment times.
- Calls emergency bookings as directed by technologists.
- Answers general telephone booking inquires and reroutes calls as necessary.
- When booking appointments, informs patient and or physicians’ offices of the required patient preparation as indicated by departmental protocol.
- Distributes received requisitions to the various sites.
- Books preventative maintenance as directed by the Charge Technologist or Manager.
- Rebooks patients as directed by the Charge Technologist or Manager.
- Demonstrates courteous behavior through polite and respectful communication with all co-workers and clients.
- Demonstrates willingness to provide the highest quality service appropriate to the position based on the concept and philosophy of continuous quality improvement.
- Ensures the security of all files, related to bookings, in accordance with department procedures to protect confidential information. Maintains confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Manager or delegate.

Our 1700 staff members, along with 364 professional staff with privileges including doctors, nurse practitioners and mid-wives, provide primary and secondary patient care. Through partnership and innovation, the teams at the four hospitals of Quinte Health provide exceptional health care services to the residents of the area, close to home.
Our vision over the next five years is to foster healthier, more connected people and communities. We will achieve this by working even more closely between our teams, hospitals and partners to provide care as close to home as possible and to help build a stronger health care system for the future.
