iGaming Ontario leads the Province of Ontario’s dynamic internet gaming (igaming) market that, in its third year generated $83 billion in total wagers, a 31% increase over the previous year. This resulted in $3.2 billion in total gaming revenue from over 80 gaming sites. Even more, Ontario’s igaming market sustained almost 15,000 full-time equivalent jobs across the province. The Senior Analyst, Analytics, Enterprise Data & BI will cross-functionally support iGaming Ontario’s Analytics verticals (Enterprise Data & BI, Custom Analytics, and Data Science). This role will focus on the development of analytics products, scalable data, interactive reports and visualizations that will drive data-driven decisions and promote operational efficiencies across all departments. Data products will support the generation of market and player insights, financial management, Anti-Money Laundering processes, policy development and responsible gambling.

Reporting to the Manager, Analytics & BI you will:
Analytics

  • Develop value-driving player, operator and market analysis and support the development of advanced analytics solutions in an insightful, accurate and timely manner and with a high degree of independence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand their broad analytical needs and translate them into effective solutions that inform market, financial, AML, responsible gambling, and policy development decisions.
  • Deliver and present analysis, insights and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and user-friendly manner.

Enterprise Data and BI

  • Collaborate with the stakeholders across the organization to understand their reporting & BI needs and translate them into robust, scalable, self-serve solutions.
  • Design and build reports and Power BI dashboards (incl. wireframes and data aggregations) that support self-serve data exploration and interactivity functionalities via filtering, drilldowns, categorizations in an intuitive and user-friendly manner.
  • Contribute to the enrichment and optimization of the Enterprise Datamart via development of new data elements and objects (e.g. tables, views, BI aggregations, tailored datasets for Data Science)
  • Design and implement automated data, report & dashboard validation, and integrity checks & alerts.
  • Develop automations & optimizations to data and analytical capabilities and workflows.

Operational Support

  • Test new sources of data to ensure accuracy, alignment with data requirements and iGaming Ontario policies.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of incoming source data through automation and monitoring of data validation processes.
  • Consult internal stakeholders on data requirements and treatment of custom use cases to ensure accuracy, alignment with data requirements and iGaming Ontario policies.
  • Generate reports used for internal decisioning and public reporting.
  • Support ad-hoc requests for one-time data stats.

Organizational

  • Actively contribute to the ongoing development of the data analytics program for the Ontario online casino and betting market and act as a subject matter expert in an interdisciplinary insights team.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement in departmental processes, workflows and culture.
  • Support organizational improvement initiatives and implementation of data-centric culture.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • University Degree in Analytics, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Statistics, Business Administration, Economics or any other relevant field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and developing exploratory analysis to address open-ended business questions.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and building interactive dashboards & visualizations in Power BI or other BI tools, incl. data modeling and wireframe design.
  • Advanced SQL and Python coding skills and ability to create production-ready, scalable, reusable, configurable code.
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Ability to program VBA is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases.
  • Experience in development of advanced analytics solutions, i.e. predictive models and segmentations, is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently own a project from start to finish.
  • Excellent ability to conceptualize, evaluate, and problem-solve.
  • Ability to apply strategic and sound judgement and sensitivity to issues and ability to work with a diverse client group and staff at all levels of the agency.
  • Ability to make timely and informed decisions that benefit the team and organization.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and trust with team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.

This position currently offers a hybrid work location. iGaming Ontario has implemented a minimum three-day per week in-office schedule. iGaming Ontario reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.

This position falls within the scope of a bargaining unit represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU). In the upcoming months, iGaming Ontario and OPSEU will be negotiating the terms of a collective agreement which, once concluded, will govern the terms and conditions of this position.
