Area Sales Manager

POSITION: Area Sales Manager LOCATION: Ottawa

REPORTS TO: Area Director of Sales-National Capital Region

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Manager

SUMMARY:
Atlific Hotels, representing the Courtyard by Marriott Ottawa and the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel & Conference Centre Gatineau is seeking a dynamic, results oriented individual to join the National Capital Region as Area Sales Manager. This Area Sales Manager is responsible for booking group business in the SMERF market segment. Reporting to the Area Director of Sales, the Area Sales Manager is responsible for prospecting, soliciting, booking, effectively yielding business and achieving sales objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Area Sales Manager’s duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Primarily targeting, soliciting and penetrating new and existing accounts in the SMERF market.
  • Conduct outside sales calls, telephone solicitation and site inspections to build relationships and aggressively target the business.
  • Participates in applicable Marriott and Atlific corporate training programs.
  • Work with Marriott and hotel sales related systems including Delphi Salesforce.
  • Represent the hotel at Marriott and Atlific events, and sales related activities.
  • Ensure all client interactions are documented within Salesforce.
  • Participate in brand and Atlific cross-selling and lead referral programs.
  • Champion the sales culture within the hotels among associates and managers.
  • Assist with various assignments and/or projects as assigned by Management Company.
  • Close sales and conduct meetings to established long and short-term business goals within budget.
  • Conduct account and market research to develop strategies to grow market share.
  • Develop and implement effective sales action plan for all segments.
  • Provide customer intelligence in evaluating the market and economic trends that may lead to changes in sales strategy for assigned segments to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Research competitor’s sales team strategies to identify ways to grow occupancy and RevPAR and increase market share.
  • Participate in business and industry related clubs and organizations.
  • Entertain Clients on/off–site; represent the hotels in a professional manner.
  • Establish and adjust rates by monitoring costs, competition, as well as supply and demand.
  • Assisting DOS with budgeting, reporting, forecasting.
  • Any other tasks that the Director of Sales & Marketing may assign.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 2 years of sales experience in hospitality industry
  • Post- secondary education in sales or equivalent
  • Computer literacy (Salesforce, Excel, Word, Outlook, email etc.)
  • Highly energetic, aggressive self-starter and well-developed sales skills including excellent negotiation, prospecting, presentation, and verbal & written communication skills
  • Has established industry contacts and knowledge of marketplace
  • Strong organization skills and detail oriented
  • Commitment to superior customer service
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Must have ability to work under minimal supervision and with priority deadlines
  • Works well under pressure

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $62,000.00 per year
