The Opportunity This is a truly exciting time to be at TVO!

Are you ready to lead a groundbreaking television show that tracks and exposes misinformation, disinformation, and conspiracy theories? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Producer to run Big [If True], an exciting studio-based show that will appear on our broadcast and digital platforms. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by confronting the spread of misinformation head-on. As part of our team, you will have the chance to shape public discourse, challenge conventional wisdom, and inspire audiences to think critically about the information they encounter. Additionally, you will be supported by a talented and passionate group of individuals who are dedicated to producing compelling content that sparks conversations and drives change.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Supervise the production team and establish the weekly editorial plan for the show.
  • Lead meetings to identify and develop stories that resonate with audiences and align with the show’s mission.
  • Determine the look and lineup of the show in collaboration with the executive producer.
  • Oversee fact-checking processes to verify the accuracy of information presented on the show and ensure adherence to journalistic standards.
  • Write and vet scripts and oversee the editing process to maintain the highest quality standards.
  • Work closely with producers, and editors to develop innovative and highly visual ways to present reports.
  • Collaborate with the host, experts, and guest contributors to provide in-depth analysis and insights into complex topics.
  • Work closely with the host to refine their on-air presence and messaging, ensuring clarity, credibility, and engagement with the audience.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Technical team to ensure seamless in-studio interviews and panel discussions.
  • Design and implement an efficient production workflow, optimizing processes for maximum productivity.
  • Enforce strict adherence to production timelines, adjusting as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Stay up to date with current events, emerging trends, and new developments in misinformation, disinformation, and conspiracy theories.
  • Curate and write content to maximize traffic on social media.
  • Work with the social media optimization team to ensure metadata, texts and video on digital platforms are search engine optimized (SEO).
  • Liaise with Media Research Team or others as appropriate to ensure proper and accurate clearance of all material used.

What You Will Bring To TVO

  • Proven experience as a showrunner with a track record of successful show production and management.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a collaborative and inclusive approach to working with others.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Deep knowledge of television production processes, including studio and control room experience.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in fact-checking techniques and familiarity with credible sources and research methodologies.
  • Broad knowledge of social media and other digital platform storytelling.
  • A deep commitment to combatting misinformation and promoting truth and accuracy in media.
