We are seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Accounting Department by handling day-to-day financial transactions, requiring strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

What You Will Do:
As an Assistant Controller, you’ll be responsible for supporting the financial operations of Ironclad Developments, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and project accounting. Your key responsibilities will include:

Project Accounting Oversee full-cycle project accounting, including billing, A/P, and bank reconciliations, while maintaining project records (contracts, change orders) and authorizing expense transfers.

Team Leadership: Manage and mentor 2-5 finance department employees.

Financial Oversight: Review overhead charges, investigate project variances, submit reports, and oversee payments for contracts, change orders, and purchases according to agreed terms.

Month-End & Year-End: Assist with journal entries, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statements, process loan draw requests, and prepare year-end audit/tax schedules.

Tax & Internal Controls: Support tax compliance, monthly filings, and assistance with documenting and monitoring internal controls.

Process Improvement: Review and update policies for operational and control improvements.

Stakeholder Communication : Work with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA or CA), or in the final stages may be considered with related work experience
- Experience managing and mentoring a small group of finance employees
- Tech-savvy with advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Proven knowledge and ability in critical thinking, decision-solving, risk management, and process improvement utilizing new technologies and financial tools
- Highly analytical, open minded, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to influence others
- Self-starter with an eye towards accuracy and inefficiency elimination
- Innovative mindset to improve operational efficiencies
- Ability to work independently and perform at a high level of accuracy
- Highly committed to meeting all deadlines and goals
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate would have experience in general contracting.
- Experience with Viewpoint Vista would be considered an asset
