ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS & SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER

Part Time (.375 FTE*) position

Rockridge Secondary School

Effective September 2, 2025 until June 30, 2026

The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59,711to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.

Required Qualifications and Experience

A part time position (*day 1 mornings) teaching Grades 8 & 9 English & Social Studies is available. The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate.
  • Evidence of appropriate qualifications and experience in teaching English and Social Studies
  • Solid understanding of the Ministry of Education Core Competencies, Big Ideas, and Learning Standards for English Language Arts;
  • The successful candidate would be willing to explore Indigenous literature and themes; encourage critical, creative, and reflective thought with regard to Canada's First Peoples; as well as collaborate with colleagues to build upon established units.
  • Ability to evaluate and report on student progress using Ministry of Education proficiency scales and IB MYP assessment standards and practices;
  • A willingness to work collaboratively with the IB MYP Coordinator and other classroom teachers to authentically develop IB MYP units of study;
  • A commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology into the curriculum;
  • An ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies that can accommodate the learning needs of all types of learners;
  • A proven ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skills;
  • Strong communication skills;
