Job Summary:
The Line Cook/Prep assists with meal preparation and cooking, following recipes and quality standards. They prepare ingredients, cook dishes to order, and ensure kitchen cleanliness.
- Act in accordance with the mission of Queen’s Pub.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
- Regulate temperatures of ovens, broilers, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment to ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature.
- Monitor food freshness and quality by checking for freshness and rotating stock.
- Adhere consistently to portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure high quality of products served.
- Maintain adequate levels of food products at line stations to support smooth service periods.
- Handle, store, and rotate all food products and supplies according to restaurant policies.
- Season and cook food according to recipes.
- Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
- Portion, arrange, and garnish food according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
- Maintain proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes.
- Prepare fruits and vegetables by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding.
- Carve and trim meats for hot or cold service or sandwiches.
- Assist with food prep during off-peak periods as needed.
- Substitute or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.
- Close the kitchen following the closing checklist and assist with kitchen closing tasks.
Supplemental
- Under Kitchen procedures, maintain records and accounts related to kitchen operations.
- Estimate food consumption, requisition supplies, or procure food from storage.
- Butcher and dress animals, chicken, or shellfish, or cut and bone meat prior to cooking.
- Bake breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries
Tools & Technology
- Commercial kitchen equipment: blenders, grinders, slicers, broilers, convection ovens, deep fryers, griddles, grills, ranges, rotisseries, steamers, cutting machinery
- Domestic knives: boning knives, chef's knives, paring knives
- Food safety labeling
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a restaurant environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety and handling practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting
- Familiarity with meal preparation techniques and kitchen equipment
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Previous experience in food service is a plus

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
