Cassellholme, a not for profit, charitable organization, operates a 240 bed Long-Term Care facility, and a Community Support Services program in the district of East Nipissing. Cassellholme is located in the City of North Bay which is situated within 3 ½ hours of both Toronto and Ottawa. Nestled between beautiful Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake, the district offers both urban and country living, with multiple recreational opportunities.

Position Summary:
To provide personal care and activation programs to clients of the Adult Day Program and to organize and lead activities within the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitoring the clients progress on their individual program plans, including maintaining up-to-date charting; (IPP-B charts)
• Reporting any unusual incident or occurrence to the Manager and primary caregiver;
• Ensuring the confidentiality of all client records; (records kept in secure location)
• Ensuring the safety of the environment by reviewing facilities for hazards, checking personal equipment for programs (eg. wheelchairs) (monthly health & safety audits)
• Providing hands-on assistance with bathing, dressing or toileting;
• Performing one and two person transfers, when required;
• Referring clients to personal care services offered in Cassellholme, such as hairdresser;
• Assisting clients with prescription medications via blisterpacks or dosettes only labeled with client’s name, dates and time
• Planning and leading individual activities, such as crafts;
• Escorting clients to activities;
• Supervising clients during meal-time to ensure their needs are met;
• Providing basic administrative/clerical assistance as required;
• Assuming specific duties in the absence of the Activity Coordinator (eg. shopping, reports, petty cash);

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of PSW (Personal Support Worker) or equivalent;
• Secondary school graduate;
• Knowledge of the aging process;
• Ability to relate well with the elderly;
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills;
• Physically able to carry out all the required duties;
• Teamwork skills and flexibility in hours of work as well as program changes
• Demonstrates regular attendance in keeping with standards of Attendance Management Program.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $23.55-$26.67 per hour
