Position Title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager Division: AGI Nobleford Location: Nobleford, AB, Canada About AGI AGI is a global food-based infrastructure company publicly traded in Canada. The Opportunity The Manufacturing Engineer Manager plans, directs, oversees, and coordinates engineering calculations and tasks related to the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing equipment, processes, and tooling. This role emphasizes adherence to engineering practices and principles to deliver optimal manufacturing solutions while ensuring compliance with quality and global standards. The position involves project management, issue resolution, and collaboration with team members across departments to facilitate efficient manufacturing operations throughout the organization.

The Team The role will report to the Plant Manager. The role will have up to 10 direct and 10 indirect reports.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and review engineering calculations and investigations related to manufacturing equipment and processes, ensuring compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and guidelines including OH&S requirements if necessary.
  • Plan, conduct, and oversee technical investigations, test plans, manufacturing feasibility assessments, cost effectiveness assessments, improvement projects, and other engineering assignments; then prioritize and implement solutions.
  • Prepare reports, graphs, and summaries to communicate project progress or results.
  • Provide and communicate technical information and ROIs for manufacturing engineering recommendations and capital expenditure projects.
  • Coach/Mentor less experienced engineers and technicians.
  • Prepare and implement a departmental budget.
  • Follow AGI’s Code of Business Ethics and related compliance policies.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Management of the following items and groups: JIRA Engineering Support Manufacturing ECRs and ECNs R&D prototyping & Testing New Product Releases M BOM Management & Routings Standard Operating Procedures Machine & Robot Programming Fixtures, Tooling, Dies Quality Liaison between GPM & Production

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of Engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineering Designation or working towards.
  • 1-3 years' progressive experience in a manufacturing environment (agriculture industry a plus).
  • Outstanding leadership and interpersonal team leadership capability.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands on capability.
  • Ability to collaborate both vertically and horizontally in the organization.
  • Capability to assess departmental resource needs and present strategy / justification.
  • Adept at working with engineering teams to translate from mechanical process requirements to controls automation requirements.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage time well.
  • Self-directed and results-oriented in leading team to company objectives.
  • MS Office platform proficient including Visio & Project.
  • CAD Proficient.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 10% of the time.
