The role. We are seeking a full-time, permanent Stores Technician to join our Procurement Department. The Stores Technician position is responsible for the maintenance of all inventory and warehousing functions including distribution of items for internal use.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Uphold performance to Mercer’s Vision and Values and support of Mercer’s Mission Zero and uphold all expectations placing safety as your #1 priority.
  • Processing, preparation and tracking of work orders.
  • Ensures quality and correctness of vendor shipments and enters items into the inventory management system.
  • Assists in inventory analysis process, in the performance of audits, cycle counting and stock checking.
  • Stores items in the warehouse, tool room or supply area.
  • Ships, delivers or picks up parts, products or equipment.
  • Reports shortages, damages and deficiencies of shipments/inventory in a timely manner.
  • Ensures documentation is completed for processing repairs and return materials.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative, respectful and effective relationships with all team members, external vendors and transportation companies.
  • Provides a positive customer service approach to all team members and departments.
  • Helps maintain the safety of the warehouse and stores area by ensuring items are organized and well kept.
  • Operates small equipment such as fork-lifts and lift trucks.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications And Experience

  • The successful candidate must possess a High School diploma or equivalent, as well as warehousing experience.
  • Parts and Materials Apprentice or Journeyperson would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to identify and anticipate internal customer requirements, expectations and needs.
  • Preparation and organizational skills, able to effectively plan and execute assigned work.
  • Proficiency with required computer systems, e.g., Google Suite of Applications, Avantis, SAP.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • We like to provide you with ample time to enjoy your life. This role works four 10‐hour days a week (i.e. Monday ‐ Thursday) from 7:00 a.m. ‐ 5:00 p.m. This means you will enjoy a 3‐day weekend every week.
  • Compensation is based on experience, qualifications and competency with a starting hourly rate of $34.69, plus a 5% Average Regular Premium (ARP). You will also start with three weeks (120 hours) of annual vacation, prorated based on your start date.
