The General Superintendent is responsible for effective and efficient on-site execution for a group of projects. This senior management position strives to achieve operational excellence through disciplined execution and continuous improvement of Marcon’s standards related to safety, quality, process, and customer deliveries. About the Role
People Leadership
- Coach, mentor and develop site superintendents, supervisors, and foremen
- Recruit site leadership teams
- Conduct performance evaluations
- Ensure manpower and resource leveling for all sites and in accordance with plans
- Fosters a teamwork approach for achieving objectives.
Safety Leadership
- Promote Marcon’s safety management system, and zero accident culture
- Ensure pro-active safety process and adherence to OHSA regulations
- Support and uphold COR certification standards across all sites.
Process Leadership
- Own and promote Marcon’s site management system (including the Last Planner) and other construction process measures defined by Marcon
- Ensure implementation of Marcon’s policies, best practices, and own site change management
- Own and promote site problem solving, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions
- Use of key performance indicators to ensure continuous learning and improvement.
Technology Leadership
- Own and promote use of core construction technology at sites
- Measure adoption of Marcon’s standard application technologies across sites and improve as necessary.
Strategy Leadership
- Provide input to operations strategy in terms of site evaluations, best practice identification, and competitive assessments
Quality Leadership
- Develop quality assurance strategies and plans for sites
- Engage with Customer Care department to incorporate customer satisfaction measures with site deliveries
- Ensure Marcon’s standards for quality and brand is maintained
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are in place for reduction of rework.
Project Delivery
- Provide group supervision of construction job sites in accordance with plans, schedules, and contractual requirements
- Ensure alignment and coordination with project managers to achieve project visions / objectives
- Participation in pre-construction and pre-planning activities
- Maintain and monitor project org charts to ensure effective and efficient staffing for job sites
- Ensure execution of Marcon’s policies, protocols, and processes at all sites
- Deal with site escalations related to major project issues or subcontractor’s effectiveness
- Ensure site standards related to documentation and reporting are maintained
About You
- 10-15 years of experience in construction projects
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with managing contract operations and site logistics
- Proficiency with construction related computer applications
- Understanding of trends with construction process improvement
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills
- Adaptability to change, strong inclination to learn new concepts and implement new ideas
- Commitment to operations excellence

The compensation range for this role is $200,000 to $250,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
