About the role

Job Description:

The Manager, Prevention, Screening, Patient & Family Support is responsible for leading several multidisciplinary teams (psychosocial, quality leads, diagnostic assessment program, referrals and genetics) in the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre to design and deliver quality, responsive and accessible patient care. This position also supports the indigenous team as it relates to Cancer specific care in accordance to the ICP agreement with CCO. This position is accountable to the performance of several different portfolios (i.e. cancer prevention and screening, patient and family support, Indigenous cancer strategy, education, psychosocial oncology, quality and person-centred care, genetics and clinical diagnostics program development). The Manager works closely with the HRCC leadership team, regional stakeholders, Regional Clinical Leads, Ontario Health Teams (OHT) and Ontario Health-Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO) to meet all required deliverables and achieve strong performance.

The Manager participates in program visioning, development, planning, evaluation, budget, resource allocation and utilization, performance management, risk management, and the promotion of service excellence and quality improvement. The Manager serves as the link between staff, physician leaders, other program areas, administration, and regional and provincial stakeholders; and demonstrates effective leadership, planning, and project management skills combined with exceptional problem solving and change management abilities.

Qualification:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a health or science related field
  • Master's degree or commitment to enroll in a Master's program within two years of hire
  • Minimum of three years health care leadership experience required
  • Minimum of five years previous work experience in a healthcare setting required
  • Detail oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Process improvement knowledge including techniques and tools of LEAN principles
  • Knowledge of or experience with common health databases / tools
  • Knowledge and experience with the CIHI Management Information Systems Framework and Scope
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of key health care performance measures (clinical, financial, utilization, efficiency) and their interrelationships in furthering strategic planning initiatives
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated strong leadership qualities with excellent interpersonal skills and understanding of the importance of teamwork
  • Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work within deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to travel as required

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and allots project management support for cancer centre leadership
  • Liaise with key regional and provincial stakeholders to advance and expand cancer screening and prevention activities
  • Leads and engages Youth Advisory Council (YAC)
  • Responsible for managing, meeting and then exceeding all activities related to CCO performance and scorecard indicators
  • Meet and report on CCO Regional Cancer Program deliverables
  • Partner with internal and external teams to grow and develop diagnostic programming within the region
  • Work closely within the Indigenous portfolio to advance cancer care services and supports within FNIM communities
  • Lead the work associated with the development of the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre’s Cancer Plan, Indigenous Cancer Plan and LGBTQ Strategy rooted in CCO’s Ontario Cancer Plan VI (OCP VI)
  • Integrates population health and health indicators in strategic planning
  • Integrates benchmarking for clinical and operational efficiency, quality and patients experience
  • Leverages technology to create virtual patient-facing content in consultation with Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Patient Service Clerks and the HRCC leadership team
  • Oversees HRCC website and is responsible to create, update and launch content
  • Portfolios are subject to change based on program needs
  • Perform other duties as required

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, located in Barrie, Ontario, provides safe, high-quality care for residents across a large geographical region including Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka. The area is home to more than 450,000 residents, with half of RVH’s patients living outside the City of Barrie.

As the largest health centre in North Simcoe Muskoka, RVH provides highly specialized services, and technology not found anywhere else in the region. This includes the only interventional radiology suites for minimally invasive surgeries, vascular services, advanced stroke care, as well as dedicated trauma rooms in its large Emergency department. RVH is also home to the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Heart Program, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Child and Youth Program and the RVH Regional Renal Program meaning distance is no longer a factor for residents receiving lifesaving treatment.
