Job Title: Summer Enrichment Academic Instructor

Location: St. John’s, NL

Position Type: 2 full-time positions until August 15, 2025

Start Date: June 30, 2025

Closing Date: Until filled

Reporting to the Child & Youth Programs Coordinator, the Summer Enrichment Academic Instructor will be responsible for providing instruction to clients of the ANC. The Summer Enrichment Program utilizes a unique learning environment to prepare youth aged 13-21 for a Canadian school environment and specializes in individualized programming for newcomer learners.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Co-coordinate and assist in program planning, development, and delivery

  • Finalize Summer Enrichment curriculum Coordinate delivery of Summer Enrichment curriculum with SWIS Coordinator

  • Deliver the Summer Enrichment curriculum over an 8-week period from July – August

  • Lead class activities and coordinate scheduled outings

  • Share all pertinent information regarding the program with parents to inform them of the program’s objectives and benefits

  • Assess students upon entry into the program in order to better inform curriculum, lesson planning and grouping of students

  • Assess students at the end of the program to evaluate progress in applied literacy and numeracy skills, and overall academic improvement of program participants

  • Submit a final report on the program which will incorporate the findings from the evaluations

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s level degree; Bachelor of Education; ESL certification or experience in a related field with a minimum of two years’ relevant experience or any combination of equivalent experience and education

  • A passion for working with people from diverse cultures and varying educational backgrounds

  • Experience working with ESL and/or immigrant/refugee youth

  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral

  • Experience in the subject areas of high school Math and English language

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Google Workspace

  • Precise attention to detail in report writing and compliance requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills

Conditions of Employment:

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada

  • Own transportation

  • Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
