Position Overview
Reporting to the COO, the Director of Reliability will lead the strategic design, development, and implementation of preventative and predictive maintenance systems to enhance equipment reliability and performance across all operations. This role is responsible for building and managing a high-performing reliability team and setting the strategic direction for maintenance excellence within the organization. Collaborating closely with site leadership teams, this role ensures the alignment of corporate and operational goals, driving efficiency and innovation.
Position Responsibilities
- Strategy Development and Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive reliability strategy that supports organizational objectives and operational excellence.
- Build and lead a team of reliability and maintenance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Align corporate reliability initiatives with site-specific needs, ensuring seamless implementation across Kiena (Quebec) and Eagle River Mine (Northern Ontario).
- Preventative and Predictive Maintenance:
- Design, implement, and oversee corporate preventative and predictive maintenance systems that maximize equipment reliability.
- Develop and refine cost-effective maintenance strategies, integrating industry best practices to drive operational efficiency.
- Maintenance Program Ownership:
- Take ownership of the organization’s maintenance framework, ensuring its alignment with short- and long-term business goals.
- Set maintenance performance metrics and continuously evaluate program effectiveness, making data-driven improvements as needed.
- Technology and Innovation:
- Evaluate, recommend, and integrate advanced technologies to enhance maintenance practices, such as instrumentation controls, sensors, and predictive analytics.
- Oversee the adoption of cutting-edge inspection procedures to upgrade legacy systems and improve equipment performance.
- Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement:
- Lead investigations into equipment failures, conducting root cause analyses to identify and implement sustainable solutions.
- Establish a culture of accountability by embedding root cause analysis and reliability principles within operational teams.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
- Monitor reliability KPIs, analyzing performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee the implementation of revised maintenance strategies based on data insights and evolving operational needs.
- Life Cycle Maintenance:
- Define life cycle maintenance requirements for all critical equipment, ensuring compliance across sites and service teams.
- Provide strategic oversight to ensure maintenance plans maximize asset longevity and return on investment.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Serve as the key liaison between corporate and site teams, facilitating knowledge sharing and best practice adoption.
- Provide technical guidance and strategic support to site maintenance teams, empowering them to achieve reliability targets.
This position combines technical expertise with strategic oversight, empowering the organization to achieve world-class reliability standards while building a robust and future-ready maintenance function.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: A minimum of 12 years in reliability engineering, maintenance leadership, or a related field, with progressive responsibility.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical background; advanced certifications in reliability engineering are a plus.
- Expertise: Proven track record in implementing preventative and predictive maintenance systems, conducting root cause analyses, and leading reliability initiatives.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in building and managing high-performing teams.
- Bilingualism: Strong communication skills in both English and French.
- Technology Savvy: Familiarity with advanced reliability technologies and systems.
