Approximately 60.0 Bi-Weekly Hours
SHIFTS:
Days / Evenings / Weekends
7.5 hours per shift (subject to change)

OPSE08A $42.78/hr $54.27/hr
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Anesthesia Assistant assists in the Anesthesiologist in the delivery of general and regional anesthesia for elective/emergent surgery patients
- In addition to providing technical support to the anesthesiologist for complex anesthesia equipment, the AA administers medications, performs activities such as the provision of conscious sedation and is responsible for the insertion of intravenous and management of arterial lines
- The AA provides constant assessment and evaluative monitoring of the depth of anesthesia using medical directives as applicable
- Demonstrate QCH values: collaboration, accountability, innovation, respect
REQUIREMENTS:
- Member of CSRT with the credentials of Certified Clinical Anesthesia Assistant (CCAA) or currently in a program
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program required
- Registered with College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario required
- A minimum of 1 year working as a Respiratory Therapist
- CPR and ACLS Certification
- Knowledge of current anesthesiology principles and practices, as well as agents, equipment, procedures and techniques for the provision of anesthesia to patients
- Capable of making critical decisions with or without the collaboration of an anesthesiologist and function with confidence in emergencies
- Ability to interact with the patient and families as well as with the medical and hospital staff
- Exercise initiative and good judgment
- Excellent facilitation and leadership skills
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
- Have strong interpersonal communication skills, oral and written
- General computer knowledge
- Proven ability to attend work regularly
