Toyota Canada Inc. currently has an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to fulfill a leadership role in the management of the Montreal Vehicle Processing Centre (MVPC). This is a full-time opportunity, and reports to the Manager, Vehicle Processing.
The successful candidate will lead a fast-paced production environment, prioritizing safety, employing the Toyota Way values while demonstrating strong leadership and maintaining the highest Toyota quality standards, using the fundamentals of the Toyota Production System.

What You’ll be Doing:
- Overseeing a fast-paced production work environment while guiding a large team of accessory installers consisting of one FT direct report, 18 outsourced Team Members including direct close contact with shop Team Leader(s)
- Directly impacting resource planning and enhancing operational efficiencies (cost savings, process improvements, team’s motivation)
- Translating Toyota sales and planning objectives into required actions of all VPC stakeholders ensuring success vs. all KPI’s (e.g. wholesale, ETA targets)
- Continually anticipate inbound vehicle volumes to action required team planning and scheduling activities to efficiently direct and process inflow of vehicle volumes
- Maintain VPC fluidity in all aspect of operations to achieve monthly wholesale targets (Quebec Zone & Atlantic Zone NAP volume)
- Maintain and promote close contact with all logistics partners (rail and truck), Compound Operations, and Damage Prevention teams to meet daily objectives, proactively addressing any issues or deficiencies
- Head daily communications, qualification development and motivation of installation team acting as key agent of change to promote Toyota Way philosophy (Kaizen & Respect for People) enhancing VPC labor relations in all facility activities
- Liaise and promote close working relationship with 3rd party manpower agency contacts ensuring regular and on-going on-site visits, team discussion and engagement opportunities
- Ensure corporate communications are effectively cascaded by guiding all team huddles
- Maintain accurate business activity forecasts through ongoing contact with head office Vehicle Logistics team members and other impacting internal departments
- Drive Kaizen-driven practices to encourage efficiency, quality, and reduce waste in existing VPC processes and with internal/external partners to maintain network KPI’s and ETAs
- Ensure efficient operations of all support systems by adhering to operational guidelines (e.g., security, YMS, VLMS, PDC parts ordering)
- Contact dealerships regarding quality notifications and other PPO matters when necessary
- Oversee teams of outside contractors, including damage prevention, compound operator/rail off-load services, on-site maintenance/cleaning, snow removal, and required security
- Ownership of all aspects of the corporate Business Continuity Program (BCP) and organize/respond to ISO and Environmental audits
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, accessibility, First Aid, and on-site security
People Management
- Provide timely guidance, coaching, feedback, and accountability for direct reports to drive learning & development and successful project completion
- Influence team members to foster collaboration, understanding, support & Kaizen (continuous improvement) resulting in work efficiencies
- Empower the team to take initiative and proactively influence the business
What You’ll Bring:
- University degree or College diploma, preferably in Logistics, Production Engineering, or a related discipline
- Practical experience in Logistics field is highly valued
- 5+ years of experience in the management of a production/operational facility
- Prior people management and team-based experience is an asset
- Excellent oral and written communication in both French and English
- Advanced performance management experience: strategies towards empowerment, team building, and accountability within a multi-faceted environment
- Knowledge of how to drive continuous improvement (Kaizen) and production efficiencies
- Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- System experience with VLMS, YMS, SAP
- Knowledgeable/understanding of Toyota Production System practices
- Experience with budgeting and establishing programs to evaluate budget impact of new measures
- Excellent leadership, organizational skillset
- Advanced strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Aptitude to take care of multiple priorities, a large team while initiating and improving work processes to increase efficiencies
- Knowledge of ISO Management systems is an asset
