Production Supervisor (Perm, FT, Mon-Fri, 3:30pm-midnight)

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Abides to the companies Food Safety policies by following GMP and Food Safety procedures. Ensure Food safety, authenticity, legality, and quality of food produced, reporting any risk and issues to direct managers/supervisors.

Abides to the companies Health and Safety policies by Work safely around moving equipment and machinery, Know where the emergency stop buttons are located on the equipment you are working.

Actively lead, coach, guide teams along with lead hands to achieve production targets and key performance indicators.
-
Proactively performance manage employees to ensure accountability of high standards for safety, quality, attendance and well being of production employees.

Identify, lead, and support continuous improvement opportunities in process, equipment and systems
-
Ensure production team is trained and competent in operate respective equipment and completing production and food safety records
-
Knowledgeable in SAP relating to production transactions
-
Monitor compliance to procedures and review non-conformance issues with employees
-
Ensure work environment is maintained under GMP and meeting BRC requirements
-
Report and investigate all accidents/ incidents and near misses resulting in personal injury or property damage.

Assist in writing policies, procedures and attend food safety meetings and traceability exercise
-
Ensures all required documentation is completed accurately and on time.

Maintain Housekeeping of the environment of the work area.
-
Attend training and be competent in perform relevant duties.
-
Informs maintenance / Supervisor of any equipment malfunctions or any product issue. Takes the necessary corrective actions when deviations occur.

Perform other duties as requested by lead hands, supervisors and managers

Following Standard Operation Procedures and company policies to complete requested tasks for grading:
o Oversee the grading production and assigns personnel to their specific task
o Before each shift begins, discuss with the Production Manager the Machine Operator and the cart person the production plan for the day or evening
o Performs a pre -operation inspection before the production commences
o Provide the shipper – receiver with a list of producers and the sequence in which they will be run
o Enter Producer and pertaining information into the computer touch screen.
o Maintain a record of producers’ eggs graded and relevant information of dates and quantity on the Daily Grading Sheet.
o Ready necessary forms and paperwork. Prepare product tags as required.
o Review the inventory sheet to know what can be produced to maintain inventory levels.
o Review the needs sheet and transfer to the run sheet the needs for the day.
o Assigns eggs to the appropriate packer as per size using the computer touch screen.
o Assign which lane the printer is to print on when running Specialty products.
o Works with the Machine Operator when changing egg types by sequentially emptying the eggs out of the packers and making the carton changes and relevant changes to machine speed and lanes on the computer touch screen.
o Make adjustments and minor repairs as required on the machinery and equipment.
o Makes sure all codes are legible and correct.
o Takes appropriate actions to maintain safety and quality of product.
o Complete timecards every Friday for all three shifts.
o Make a new producer book weekly.
o Make a shift schedule
o Enter weekly egg amounts on a spreadsheet weekly in categories according to type of eggs.
o Enter employee’s start and end times daily in the HR spreadsheet. Complete timecards.
o Update receiving spreadsheet weekly.
o Enter all receiving on the egg list daily.
o Take all eggs ran on shift off the egg list at the end of shift.
o Send shift report at the end of each shift.
o Send egg projections for the next day to production manager at the end of the evening shift.
o Order chemicals for the sanitation team as needed, make sure not to run out of any chemical.
o Any other duties assigned by production manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Post Secondary education or equivalent work experience preferred
- Minimum 5-7 years experience as a supervisor in a production or manufacturing environment
- Proven working experience as a supervisor and leading a large team (20-30 employees)
- Experience with SAP would be considered an asset
- Familiarity with progressive production practices and methods
- General Knowledge of production systems and operational methods
- Strong accountability and follow-through skills
- Process driven with the ability to follow and understand policies at all times
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience as a change leader and pushing change and new procedures and policies
