JOB TITLE:

Residence Supervisor (Nights) – Contract, Job Reference #202507-03C

DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Dean of Students and Campus Life, the Residence Supervisor (Nights) will:

  • Support the overnight operations of the residence community by supervising student staff, responding to emergencies and critical incidents and provide direct support to residents.

  • Liaise with night security staff.

  • Conduct regular inspections of residence areas to ensure adherence to safety, security and community standards.

  • Play a key role in promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive living environment.

  • Assist in staff training, implements community programming and ensures residence polices are upheld during evening and overnight hours.

  • Create residence staff duty schedules, staff meeting schedules, and conducts staff meetings (individual and group)

  • Investigate minor Rules of Residence violations, educates residents on compliance and issues sanctions.

  • Maintain professional informal contact with residents, with regard to fairness, consistency, and professional boundaries.

  • Advise residents on issues related to residence life, adjustment to university, provide resources and make appropriate referrals.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful incumbent will:

  • Have a College diploma

  • Require 1-2 years of previous work experience

  • Be able to respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or incidents after hours.

  • Be skilled in mediating disputes and addressing behavioural concerns diplomatically.

  • Strong verbal and written communication for reporting and engaging with students, staff and emergency personnel.

  • Able to assess situation quickly and make sound, ethical decisions under pressure.

  • Ability to guide and support student staff and uphold residence policies.

  • Resourceful and proactive in resolving unexpected issues overnight

  • Respectful and inclusive in dealing with diverse student populations.

  • Careful with documentation, incident reporting and nightly rounds.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks during overnight shifts and remain alert and productive.

  • Approachable and empathetic, able to build trust with students in residence.

  • Technical and Administrative skills

  • Incident Reporting Systems (e.g. Erez, Advocate, or equivalent).

  • Familiarity with Residence Life Polices and Procedures.

  • Basic First Aid and CPR (preferred)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.

TYPE OF JOB:

Part-Time Contract (24 hours per week, Thursday – Saturday from 10:00pm to 6:00am for 8 months)

EFFECTIVE DATE:

As soon as possible.

SALARY RANGE:

$25.00 per hour
