About the role
Job Description:
The Transitional Care Unit is a 40 bed unit that cares for patients who have a firm discharge destination but face a temporary obstacle, such as awaiting home and community care services or slow stream rehabilitation and convalescent care. Focused, short term supports will enable these patients to be more quickly and safely discharged. Patients are transferred to this unit once a discharge plan is in place. The healthcare team consists of physicians, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, patient care assistants, dietitians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a discharge planner, social worker, a respiratory therapist, a speech language pathologist, a chaplain, unit clerks, and volunteers. Each member has a specific role to play to ensure optimal health and seamless transitions. They strive to provide exceptional care to each patient and family.
As the Resource Nurse your role will coordinate the daily direct care delivery activities of staff and ensures compliance with Health Centre and Unit standards, policies and procedures.
As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:

Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
-
Baccalaureate preparation in a health related field preferred
-
Resource Nurse, Team Leader, or Charge Nurse experience
-
Leadership, teaching and/or mentorship experience
-
Current Basic Life Saving
-
Successful completion of a recognized Leadership Diploma/Certificate or equivalent preferred
-
Canadian Nurses Association Specialty Certification as applicable to nursing service area
-
Continuing educational courses specific to nursing service area
-
Progressive clinical experience
-
Computer literacy in current software applications
-
Membership in professional association specific to nursing service area

About Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre
Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, located in Barrie, Ontario, provides safe, high-quality care for residents across a large geographical region including Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka. The area is home to more than 450,000 residents, with half of RVH’s patients living outside the City of Barrie.
As the largest health centre in North Simcoe Muskoka, RVH provides highly specialized services, and technology not found anywhere else in the region. This includes the only interventional radiology suites for minimally invasive surgeries, vascular services, advanced stroke care, as well as dedicated trauma rooms in its large Emergency department. RVH is also home to the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Heart Program, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Child and Youth Program and the RVH Regional Renal Program meaning distance is no longer a factor for residents receiving lifesaving treatment.
