Reporting to the Director Health Information Management and Patient Registration, the successful candidate will provide leadership and be responsible for the day day-to-day operational needs of Health Information Management and Patient Registration. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of the service including management of human resources, recruitment and onboarding of new staff, development of goals and objectives including setting, monitoring and maintaining standards for quality and productivity, budget preparation and monitoring. The Manager will provide leadership and direction to staff, ensuring compliance with personal health information privacy and confidentiality legislation.

Qualifications

o Baccalaureate Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or related field experience preferred

o Graduate of a CCHIM-recognized diploma program with active certification in Health Information Management preferred

o Minimum Three (3) years' experience in a leadership/supervisory role plus five years' experience in a Health Information Management Department

o Demonstrated experience in budget development, fiscal planning, and financial management, with a proven ability to monitor and control expenditures in line with organizational goals and priorities

o Strong understanding of financial reporting, cost analysis, and variance analysis, with the ability to make data-driven decisions to ensure budget adherence and optimize resource allocation

o Demonstrated understanding of front-end data quality for all patient registration activities and strong knowledge of Admission/Discharge/Transfer (ADT) processes

o Strong knowledge of all relevant legislation including but not limited to the Public Hospital's Act, Mental Health Act and Personal Health Information Protection (PHIPA) Act

o Certified Health Information Management professional with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIM) an asset

o Knowledge of legal requirements in the context of the electronic health record

o Excellent supervisory skills, with ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines

o Effective organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills

o Strong planning, interpersonal, facilitation, team building and coaching skills

o Excellent communication skills - written & oral with use of specialized terminology related to health records

o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders

o Ability to deal effectively with internal and external customers

o Consistent and regular attendance required
