Join Our Team as a Recreation or Activity Aide – Make a Difference in Senior Care!
Are you an experienced Activity Aide with a heart for senior care? Do you want to make an impact and inspire a team to provide residents with well-being support? At Plan A Glengarry, we are seeking an energetic, experienced, and knowledgeable individual to join our team to help provide outstanding support in senior care. As an Activity Aide, you will be one of the interdisciplinary team members ensuring resident care is facilitated with an integrated approach. What you will bring:
- Identify and assess the residents’ needs to develop fulfilling activities.
- Invite and encourage resident participation in activities / programs.
- Provide one to one resident activity where assigned.
- Provide residents with a safe and comfortable environment by remaining aware of risk management issues that could compromise safety or incur liability.
- Maintain excellent documentation at the required intervals.
- A positive, creative and enthusiastic attitude.
What we are looking for:
- Recreation Therapy diploma, Social Services Worker diploma, Recreation/Leisure Degree or Diploma or Kinesiology Degree, or Post-Graduate Certificate with a specialization in Therapeutic Recreation course content.
- GPA (Gentle Persuasive Approach), or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and/or CTI Community Worker Safety Strategies training is an asset.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience with activity planning preferably in senior care.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
- Experience in planning, developing, and evaluating effectiveness of group and one-to one programming for a diverse population.
- Working knowledge of Montessori equipment / activities is required.
- Tuberculosis testing within the last two years; Steps 1 & 2; or an X-Ray from the previous five years showing a clear result.
- Able to provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
- Proof of current immunizations according to Plan A policy.
