This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time position working 75hrs bi-weekly. It will establish a 3-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

Who we are

Social supports branch provides various services and supports to individuals, families and communities. Those key services include: Income support, community support, adult protection and disability services.

Who we are looking for

Reporting to the Social Services Assistant Deputy Minister, you will be responsible for leading, planning, managing and directing branch activities to ensure the provision of an integrated range of services to persons with disabilities and the families who support them; employment and training services; shelter, residential placement services and supportive housing; senior services and adult protection; and persons in need of income supports throughout the Yukon (Whitehorse and Communities), so that they can achieve the greatest degree of independence, well-being and self-reliance possible.

Important application and job requirements

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Degree in Social Work, Public Administration or a related discipline in Health or Social Services;

  • Senior management / executive experience, including considerable experience managing human and financial resources, preferably in a government setting;

  • Significant experience in procurement and working within contract and procurement regulations, including knowledge of supply chain management, preferably in a public sector setting;

  • Considerable experience in the delivery or administration of social programs, preferably in a public sector setting;

  • Considerable experience in strategic planning, policy development and performance measurement.

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

  • RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector;
  • Yukon Driver’s Licence or equivalent;
  • verification of degree;

Job requirements

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

Occasional travel in and out of the territory by both ground and air. This position involves working in a normal office environment where the incumbent must review detailed financial reporting, meet critical deadlines and respond to changing service demands daily.
