JUNIOR IT SPECIALIST(S)
Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. (NPEI) is seeking a qualified individual to join our management team in the position of Junior IT Specialist. This position is an in-office role working out of our corporate office located in Niagara Falls, with occasional travel to all NPEI locations where our corporate technical infrastructure is in place. This position reports to the IT Security Supervisor and would be first point of contact for hardware, applications, computer, network, and telephony including mobile devices. The team player with initiative and ability to work independently, would work alongside IT Specialist(s) on projects, user support, reporting and documentation including network topology and installation, configuration and testing of new technologies and equipment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and maintenance related to the corporate network infrastructure through the helpdesk ticketing system.
- Process requests related to clients and security for moves, add, changes, and delete (MACD).
- Process and escalate helpdesk tickets according to SLA’s and escalation paths.
- Participate in documentation of help desk ticket resolutions, applications, hardware, and network applications.
- Assist with performing upgrades to Microsoft Office Products suite, and monitor patching of applications, MS Windows, third party patch update, and deployment of approved renewed security certificates.
- Actively contribute to the improvement of available tools and internal processes used by the support team. Keeps current with relevant advancements in technology in order to provide input into recommendations for process improvements to ensure system reliability, scalability, security, integrity and performance.
- Follow operating procedures for infrastructure implementation, maintenance and support. Participate in DR and backup activities including backup, restoration, and scheduled testing.
- Update and assist with the maintenance of an accurate IT asset inventory in relation to the Corporate financial fixed assets record.
- Monitor the health of internal assets and system performance as reported in the remote management and monitoring application.
- Assist with Firewall management and maintenance.
- Assist with Antivirus operations, manage, review, and report.
- Participate in email filtering and security.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- University Degree in Computer Science or STEM major (science, technology, engineering and math), or a College Diploma in Information Systems / Network / Electronics Technician or Technology.
- CompT1A A+ Certification or equivalent would be an asset.
- Requires 0-2 years of related work experience in a similar role.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 management and in windows server management.
- Experience with PC hardware, printers, scanners, computer peripherals, mobile devices (iOS and Android) troubleshooting.
- Experience with networking troubleshooting – LAN, wireless, VPN.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as tcp, http, https, and sftp.
- Knowledge of system administrative functions including Windows Operating Systems, SQL, Oracle; familiarization with MS Office, Microsoft Development tools such as Visual Basic and Access.
