The Role A Digital Experience Designer is responsible for creating engaging and intuitive digital experiences for users. There will be a requirement to engage on a variety of digital platforms such as websites, apps, and other interactive platforms. The individual will have a background in user experience (UX) design, user interface (UI) design, and a keen understanding of how to create seamless and enjoyable digital experiences. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and improve digital platforms that meet user needs and business goals.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in: User Research and Analysis:
- Conduct user research to understand user needs, behaviours, and pain points.
- Analyse and interpret user data to inform decision decisions.
- Develop user personas, journey maps and user flows to guide design processes.
UX/UI Design:
- Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for web and mobile applications.
- Develop wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes to communicate design concepts.
- Ensure consistency in design elements and user interactions across various platforms.
- Ensure designs are user-centric and aligned with brand guidelines.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive design approach.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Present design concepts and solutions to stakeholders and incorporate feedback.
Usability Testing:
- Plan and conduct usability testing sessions to evaluate the effectiveness of designs.
- Gather and analyse feedback from users to iterate and improve designs.
- Implement changes based on user feedback to enhance the user experience.
Design Systems and Standards:
- Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and pattern libraries
- Ensure designs adhere to brand guidelines and industry best practices.
- Stay updated with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies.
Project Management:
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Work with project manages to establish timelines and deliverables.
- Ensure all design deliverables are completed on time and meet quality standards
Mentoring and Leadership:
- Share technical and career experience with the team and the wider Product community.
- Collaborate with related parts of the business such as Product Design, Product Management, Application Security, Customer Experience, etc.
- Demonstrate personal integrity and open communication.
- Demonstrate ownership in individual contributions and seek out way ways to improve team delivery.
- Positively influence a friendly, open culture of collaboration.
Continuous Improvement:
- Adhere to and implement continuous improvement processes.
- Ensure continuous learning to remain up to date with software development practices.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in digital design.
- Identify opportunities for improving user experiences and propose innovative solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Digital Experience Designer, UX/UI Designer, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Miro, Figma, adobe XD, Research Tools, Behavioural data analytics tools like Fullstory, Hotjar, Mouseflow, or similar.
- Strong understanding of user-centred design principles and methodologies.
- Excellent visual design skills with an eye for detail and aesthetics.
- Experience with prototyping tools and usability testing methods.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to think critically and solve complex design problems.
- A portfolio showcasing your design and work process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and guidelines (e.g., WCAG).
- Knowledge of Agile and Lean UX methodologies.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information This role is hybrid in-office and remote based out of our Christchurch or Vancouver office. As a global position, flexibility to take meetings outside standard working hours may be required.
