Disability Management Data & Cost Control Analyst

The Disability Management Data & Cost Control Analyst plays a pivotal role in the success of Disability Management cost control and data analysis. This role works closely with all required internal and external stakeholders to understand, collect and data mine; with the goal of identifying cost savings. Additionally, they will develop, maintain, track, trend and monitor data requirements for all areas of Disability Management. They will work with HR IT on data collection and governance, to ensure consistency across gHR. This role includes collaboration and engagement of all key departments and implementation of DM data and cost initiatives to support the business needs while managing and measuring cost efficiencies.
This position may be located in Montreal or Toronto.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with and lead the DM team to develop and evolve Business Data Analysis practices.
- Responsible for providing financial planning, monitoring and support.
- Responsible for analyzing and validating yearly financial results.
- Ability to translate data and insights into meaningful visualizations and stories to drive strategy, action, and decision-making within Disability Management and with Disability and Workers’ Compensation Managers.
- Use strong analytical skills and support use of structed data to identify opportunities, answer questions and to solve business problems.
- Conduct data analysis and apply expertise as it pertains to reporting requirements.
- Engage, prepare, build, and execute ad hoc complex analysis and to understand business performance/user metrics, KPI’s and provide concise summaries and recommendations to management.
- Prepare ad hoc, quarterly, and year-end presentations & documentation for all required stakeholders.
- Apply expertise in quantitative analysis and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and help inform, influence, support, and execute business decisions.
- Develop meaningful team dashboards and performance scorecards to flag trends and gaps.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to collect data requirements that support the development of analytical components of Workers’ Compensation and Disability data.
- Act as liaison between Disability Management and HR IT to ensure delivery needs are met and leverage from other gHR analysts and identify synergies.
- Partner with HRIT to develop and maintain the Finance and Reporting modules within AIIM to encompass; cross-company disability and injury reporting, enhanced financial tracking, and automated reports to ensure cost controls and measurement.
- Evaluate feasibility and best technology fit for analytics initiatives.
- Be the point of contact and data subject matter expert for Disability Management.
- Participate and stay current with employer group Workers’ Compensation forums and meetings; to stay current with and identify legislative changes that could impact cost and future liability.
- Conduct case audits and collaborate with Disability/Workers’ Compensation Managers to flag unusual invoice charges.
- Review and validate all Workers’ Compensation invoicing to ensure accuracy and follow up on identified errors.
- Review and validate all Disability Insurance provider invoicing to ensure accuracy and follow up on identified errors.
- Responsible for data maintenance and governance of DM SharePoint site and documentation control related to finance and data materials.
- Collaborate on the development & oversight of policies and procedures related to finance and data.
- Support the delivery of all ongoing and new DM programs and initiatives.
- Collaborate with Manager, Financial Services as required.
- Maintains proactive and continuous communication and collaboration with their superior to foster partnerships and ensure programs meet expectations and operational needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or Business Analytics
- 3+ years related experience in a large company.
- Certifications in business analytics, such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) an asset.
- Expertise with Workers’ Compensation finance and liability an asset.
- Track record working with data from multiple sources and willingness to dig-in and understand the data and to leverage creative thinking to deliver results.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others on a team and be able to effectively drive cross-team solutions that have complex dependencies and requirements.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility and resilience to work under tight deadlines and adjust to rapidly changing conditions.
- Strong planning, organizational and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to think strategically and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Impressive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Visio), with expertise in PowerBI or other data software.
- Experience developing, executing, and maintaining business process improvements.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment
