Job Title: IT Support Specialist

Job Type: 6 month contract + Possibility of Extension, Hybrid (3 days on-site) in Edmonton, AB.

Job Salary: $35 - $40 / Hour

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Transactional Accounting Analyst to support the day-to-day accounting operations related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions for various power generation assets across Canada. This is a 6 month contract, with a hybrid work scheduling requiring 3 days per week in office. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and fast-paced power generation company in Edmonton, AB.

Responsibilities include:

• Create journal entries, billings, and financial reports to ensure accuracy and proper legal entity alignment using Oracle and BI tools.

• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis in Excel

• Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Investigate financial discrepancies with customers (e.g., AESO, BC Hydro, IESO) and collaborate with commercial teams.

• Support Joint Venture financials with year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter comparisons.

• Investigate AP/AR discrepancies and ensure correct classification of capital vs. maintenance expenditures.

• Participate in standardized review processes using checklists and internal training tools; provide operational support to analysts as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; working towards their CPA/CMA

• 2+ years of transactional or plant accounting experience, including - 3+ years of overall accounting experience

• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

• Industry background in energy or power generation

• Proficient in Oracle ERP (AR/AP/GL) and Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas)

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Transactional Accounting experience with a power generation company

• Knowledge of CSOX controls and internal accounting processes.
