Regular Part-Time position (0.5)

This position is at the L03 level with an hourly pay range of $30.83 - $39.00.

(PSAC Bargaining Unit)

Reporting to the Manager, Health Information Management, the incumbent has responsibility for maintaining
and improving the integrity of data though investigating, identifying, and correcting discrepancies within the

medical record.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Knowledge of relevant Acts, regulations and confidentiality policies
  • Knowledge of chart electronic medical record system and medical terminology
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and multitask
  • Articulate knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills both written and oral
  • Tact and diplomacy are required when addressing physicians, clinicians and managers of various departments
  • Effective decision making – able to gather facts and assess all perspectives in order to influence positive outcomes
  • Ability to provide training and orientation to staff
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy, thoroughness and attention to details
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to work independently to take proactive steps toward problem resolution and within a team
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and still meet workload timelines
  • Cross cultural awareness

The successful candidate will have a Grade 12 diploma and Medical Office Assistant course or advanced understanding of medical terminology. A minimum of 6 months' data entry experience, 1 year experience in a hospital with Health Information Management, patient registration, or healthcare setting, and 1 year experience providing customer service in an office setting, are also required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.
