About the role

Your Opportunity:

Registered Dental Assistants help with patients for treatment in schools and community settings. Registered Dental Assistants provide clinical oral health care services, health promotion and preventive educational programs to the public. Clinical operator performing fluoride screenings/prophylaxis, applying fluoride agents, and assistance with applying sealants. Promote oral health by developing and providing education presentations and materials, and dental/nutrition counseling. Provides the Oral Health School program by performing dental screenings/prophylaxis, classroom presentations, and providing information sources to students, parents, and school staff. Maintaining Oral Health Supplies by maintaining stock of professional supplies and preparing orders for supplies based on discussions with dental companies. Documentation and recording and compiling data. Maintaining and sterilizing of equipment.

Description:

As a Dental Assistant, you will receive and prepare patients for treatment. You will prepare instruments and materials required, perform intra-oral procedures and chair-side assistance during dental procedures. You will maintain cleanliness of the dental area and perform routine maintenance. You will also provide oral health treatment and education to patients. You may perform billing and pre-authorization of insurance claims and participate in the development of educational resource materials. You will maintain dental charts, records and databases.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a certificate from an accredited Dental Assisting Program.

Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants (CADA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Certificate from a recognized Dental Assisting Program. Successful completion of the National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) written exam. Current registration with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants (CADA). Display a positive attitude, able to communicate effectively, individually and in groups and relates well to others. Able to plan and work under limited supervision and able to make sound judgments and uses initiative. Training and working knowledge of Connect Care.
