ABOUT YOU:
You will be involved in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating a variety of community-based events; supervising staff to ensure effective program and event operations. You will provide exceptional customer experience and work through complex event permit requests with organizers and staff in various departments. This position also oversees seasonal staff, volunteers and contractors.

YOU HAVE:

  • Considerable knowledge of community recreation and culture activities with a focus on event planning, implementation, and evaluation. Sound knowledge of methods, policies and procedures applicable to the work.

  • Considerable knowledge of the interests and functions of the local community, community groups and agencies, and available community resources.

  • The ability to direct, supervise and participate in the planning and execution of community events, including implementing large special events.

  • A high level of interpersonal skills, flexibility and adaptability, and the ability to work independently with sound judgment.

  • Demonstrated expertise in navigating and communicating community expectations and dynamics, while cultivating and sustaining productive relationships with external teams, community organizations and the public.

  • Responsible for setup and take-down of event equipment.

  • The ability to prepare and maintain event budgets, records, and reports.

  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Experience with PerfectMind considered an asset.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
College or University graduation with courses in event planning, fundraising, arts or cultural administration supplemented by related event experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle for NVRC business.

This is a regular full-time position, involving shift work including days, evenings and weekends for 35 hours per week. Employees will be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All employees must submit a Police Information Check prior to any appointment.

Hourly Rates: The pay for this unionized regular full-time position starts at step 1, $36.08 and ranges up to $42.45 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefit package.
