Location

This position is required to work in person at the Music Centre or on our tour to PEI. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands.

Position Overview

Work with members of the Burlington Teen Tour Band. Reporting to the Director, Bands & Music Services, this position ensures all our uniforms fit our members properly and are up to our visible standards. Required to attend our summer tour to PEI with the band. Assist to ensure with the safety and well-being of band members while working with them.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the members of the Burlington Teen Tour Band
  • Reports to the Director of Bands regarding all uniform issues.
  • Ensures the Burlington Teen Tour Band always looks its best.
  • Measure and fit existing uniforms on new and existing members.
  • Ensures that uniforms continue to fit our members when they grow.
  • Must be able to sew by both hand and with a machine.
  • Be able to build, repair and resize our hats
  • Organize and oversee the loading of our uniforms onto the truck
  • Organize and oversee the loaning of uniform pieces when members forget.
  • Coach and develop members with life skills.
  • Travel with the band for performances in PEI.
  • Duties and responsibilities are inclusive but not limited to the above.

Requirements

Education: Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent required. Standard First Aid and CPR. Good organizational skills are required.

Experience: 5 - 10 years of sewing/seamstress experience required. Uniform or costume fitting and repair would be considered an asset. Experience working with teenagers.

Police Check Requirement

This position requires the successful candidate to provide a clear criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening at their own expense.
