Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Psychometrist to join the Provincial Neuropsychiatry Program at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!
As a Psychometrist with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Receive work direction from a Psychologist, and conduct a series of standardized neuropsychological/psychometric tests to assess cognitive functioning, education level, learning difficulties, personality, quality of life and vocational interests.
  • Provide psychologist with written and/or verbal summary of test results and the client's performance and behaviour to assist in diagnosis and treatment interventions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
  • Two years' direct neuropsychological/psychometric testing experience with a variety of clinical populations or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Eligible for certification with the Board of Certified Psychometrists.
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of psychology assessment and treatment methods and tools.
  • Basic knowledge of therapeutic, diagnostic and consultation techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately administer and score standardized tests.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Board of Certified Psychometrists professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice.
  • Basic knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
  • Basic knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Basic knowledge of evidence based psychological practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with, and deal effectively with, co-workers, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and supervise.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with conflict situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment including word-processing and database software.
  • Broad knowledge of practices and professional standards of Psychologists.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
