Our Client, a busy designer and manufacturer of engineered-to-order equipment, is looking to add the talents of an experienced Purchaser to the organization. We are searching for candidates with a proven ability to identify and develop new sources, as well as negotiate agreements with vendors from local and North American markets.

The Technical Buyer must be able to step into a dynamic operation and manage a large number of suppliers providing materials, components, and assemblies. This business requires sourcing of various metal materials for fabrication, machining, and welding that will be assembled with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic or pneumatic parts and equipment in a high-mix, low-volume business model. As a result, the Technical Buyer must be responsive to new designs and ECN's, frequently sourcing and qualifying vendors. As the Technical Buyer is responsible for preparing RFQs and POs, the capacity to read and understand technical drawings and to analyze material costs will be highly valued. This role will work closely with Engineering and cross-functional teams; familiarity with local suppliers of engineered products, parts, and machine services will contribute to success in this position.

Due to the unique technical demands of this role, the ideal candidate will have completed Post-Secondary studies in an Engineering discipline, and be able to understand blueprints and/or schematics. A Purchasing designation (such as C.P.P.) will augment no less than 5 years of practical experience.
