ABLE Engineering Services Inc. "ABLE" is a versatile, experienced, multi-disciplinary engineering firm that works on a wide range of projects. We excel in civil and structural engineering, surveying and the design of infrastructure systems for commercial, residential, governmental and industrial projects.

We are seeking a Construction Survey Technician to support our Civil Engineering Division from our Metro, Nova Scotia office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Travel to and from job sites throughout Nova Scotia

· Participate in field surveys and operate survey instruments and devices;

· Participate in construction surveying tasks including foundation layouts, gridlines, benchmarks, and elevations, quality control and location certificates

· Completing topographic field surveys

· Assist in the preparation of detailed drawings, charts and plans;

· Keep records, measurements and other survey information in systematic order;

· Assist in the calculation, analysis and computation of measurements obtained during field surveys;

· Any and all responsibilities assigned by the department head.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Certificate or diploma in a recognized geomatics/surveying program, or equivalent field experience within Canada

· Formal survey technician training from an accredited institution considered an asset

· Able to successfully and consistently operate field survey equipment including Total Station, Base Station, GPS/RTK equipment

· Ability to read and interpret engineering, architectural and survey plans

· Strong listening and communication skills

· Appreciates outdoor work

· Must be available and able to travel frequently throughout the South Shore, Halifax Regional Municipality and the Annapolis Valley.

· Valid Nova Scotia drivers license

· Uses and applies good field judgement for accuracy, and adequacy of field work

· Occupation Health & Safety, WHMIS and First Aid training considered an asset.
