About the Role
We're looking for an HR Coordinator to join our team at Calgary Alpha House Society. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a non-profit focusing on supporting our clients with addictions. You’ll be supporting the organization with a variety of administration tasks. Your responsibilities would include:
- Preparing new hire documentation and assisting with onboarding paperwork
- Processing employee transfer paperwork and maintaining accurate records
- Responding to employee inquiries regarding benefits, payroll, scheduling, and HR policies
- Supporting recruitment with screening, interviewing, and reference checks
- Maintaining employee files securely and in accordance with privacy and accreditation standards
- Ensure accurate data entry into our HRIS systems, including position changes and benefits administration
- Tracking and reporting on staff performance reviews
- Enrolling and terminate employees from group benefit programs in a timely fashion
- Coordinate staff training (internal and external) and updating our HRIS system, BambooHR
- Preparing employment letters, including offers and confirmations
- Submitting WCB claims as per provincial guidelines
- Supporting HR research, reporting, and special projects as assigned
About You
This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, compassionate, and looking to make a meaningful impact in a people-centered non-profit environment. The ideal candidate would have the following:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field
- At least one year of experience in an HR related or administration role
- Solid understanding of Alberta Employment Standards and related HR legislation
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Professional judgment, discretion, and tact in handling confidential information
- Knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems such as UKG and BambooHR would be an asset
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and trauma-informed practices
- Experience with employee file management and benefits administration
- An empathetic approach and understanding of the vulnerable populations Alpha House serves

Able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Search (Competed within the last 6 months)

Vaccinated against COVID-19

Familiarity with WCB processes, privacy legislation, and HR file audits
