Ready to make a difference in your community and the climate? Interested in green jobs and helping lead the energy transition?

Summerhill is looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals to join our team as Energy Assessors / Field Sales Representatives for the Save on Energy Small Business Program (SBP) in Ontario's Northern region. This is more than just a sales role — whether you're a recent graduate with a background in environmental studies, energy systems, sustainable development, or an experienced sales professional, this is your chance to turn passion into impact. As an Energy Assessor/Field Representative, you'll promote sustainability, support local small businesses, and play a hands-on role in advancing climate action.

About Us

Summerhill is a proudly Canadian, B-Corp-certified company creating a cleaner, more energy-efficient future. Since 1993, we’ve been leading the way in energy efficiency and conservation — helping communities and businesses reduce their environmental impact through smart, sustainable solutions.

Our company is based in Toronto, Ontario, and has offices across Canada. We are proud to be a certified B-Corp and have been named one of Canada’s Best Workplaces.

Role Overview

As an Energy Assessor, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Save on Energy Small Business Program, a province-wide initiative that helps small businesses reduce their carbon footprint through efficient lighting and other energy-saving upgrades.

Join the Small Business Program (SBP), part of the transformative Save On Energy initiatives. You'll help them identify and retrofit inefficient lighting and non-lighting systems, all while providing free assessments that could unlock up to $3,000 in lighting incentives and $2,500 in non-lighting incentives!

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel within assigned areas to conduct on-site energy assessments for small businesses
  • Educate business owners about energy-saving opportunities and available incentives through the Save on Energy program.
  • Use a sales-based approach to build rapport and encourage participation in energy-saving upgrades
  • Provide clear, accurate, and engaging information to various businesses, including retail, restaurants, offices, and more.
  • Maintain exceptional customer service standards while supporting meaningful climate solutions at the community level.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

This role is especially well-suited for recent graduates or individuals interested in green careers, sustainability, or gaining real-world experience in the energy and environmental sectors.

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience — environmental science, sustainability, energy systems, or related fields is an asset
  • Previous sales or outreach experience preferred
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are assets
  • Comfortable leading conversations, presenting information, and educating others about sustainable energy solutions
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate; ability to use tablets and mobile tools for reporting and assessment
  • Multilingual skills are a plus, but not required
  • Technical knowledge of lighting systems is helpful but not necessary — training provided
