About the role
Family Practice (300-0996)
The Bridge Medical Clinic, as it's name implies, is an important bridge between two larger communities and services a large rural area which otherwise has no medical services. Our clinic offers a well equipped minor procedure room enabling a variety of surgical procedures, an onsite Pharmacy which is the only one in the area, a Clinical Pharmacist, two full time Nurse Practitioners as part of the PCN and a loyal patient base which significantly depends on our medical care. It is a well run, efficient and established full service family practice clinic with a current EMR, technical, billing and administrative support. Factoring in the anticipated retirement of one of the clinic's physicians in due time, the primary expectation and priority is to provide care for their deserving panel. This would prioritize office practice, but could easily include hospital based care as part of a call group to diversify the medical practice, if the candidate so wishes.

Community Information
Campbell River is a true Islanders’ paradise, where you can ski Mount Washington in the morning and kayak on the ocean in the afternoon; it is home to old growth forests, mild temperatures and world class mountain biking, hiking, fishing and more. We are a growing city of around 40,000 people that still has the small town feeling with the city amenities. Physicians live and work here to take advantage of the work-life balance such an environment offers.
Campbell River offers a unique opportunity for full spectrum family practice in a setting with significant specialist support (there are less than 6 hospitals like ours in the province). Campbell River is home to approximately 30 family physicians and a very supportive group of specialists (6 general internists, 5 general surgeons, 3 plastic surgeons, 5 orthopedic surgeons, 4 urologists (in Comox) and 3 OB/GYNEs). The community has a fantastic cohort of emergency room physicians (combo of CCFP and FRCP trained) who are gracious enough to do admission orders, making inpatient care very efficient. Further, we have a brand new hospital (built 2018) overlooking the ocean.
