About the role

Title: Logistics Assistant (Afternoons)

Reports to: Logistics Supervisor, Logistics Manager

Based at: Mucci International Marketing Inc., Kingsville, Ontario.

Type of Employment: Full time, permanent, 6-days a week, Monday to Saturday, and potentially extended hours depending on workload and priorities.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • TMS Operation: Manage and operate the Transportation Management System (TMS) and various customer web portals
  • Scheduling: Coordinate customer delivery appointments and carrier pick-up times
  • Proactive Monitoring: Continuously overseeing the transportation network to identify potential issues and opportunities for optimization
  • Load Tracking: Monitor outbound deliveries and address any carrier service failures, escalating as needed
  • Appointment Booking: Schedule customer delivery appointments according to customer profiles and Outbound Planner sequencing
  • Maintain frequent communication with Mucci Farms DC Operations to inform about reschedules or delays, and proactively address potential issues
  • Load Adjustments: Actively reschedule and adjust loads based on operational needs
  • Support Planning: Assist with both inbound and outbound load planning
  • Redirects and Repositioning: Coordinate product redirects and work with Sales on repositioning rejected products
  • Customs Documentation: Assist with customs paperwork and support logistics and customs teams
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and log carrier performance concerns, ensuring service issues are communicated to the Outbound Planner and Manager
  • Carrier Compliance: Monitor and manage carrier compliance, including on-time performance, safety, licenses, WSIB, and insurance
  • Maybe asked to complete other tasks based on experience and qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Completion of Highschool or GED, Post-Secondary education in Business Administration or related field is strongly preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience in logistics or a related field in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with strong critical thinking skills; this role is highly tactical
  • Capable of frequently reprioritizing tasks based on immediate needs
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and communicate in a clear and concise manner in English, both in writing and verbally
  • This role requires rapid communication in response to service failures, rejections, and missed delivery appointments
  • Proven ability to communicate and follow-up as often as needed to resolve transportation issues
  • Strongly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment
  • Proven ability in multitasking and changing priorities/tasks, and meeting time-sensitive deadlines

Physical Abilities:

  • Extended Periods: Ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • Physical Activity: Capable of bending, stretching, twisting, and reaching with arms and legs
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift materials up to 14 kg (30 lbs), and occasionally up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • Stair Climbing: Ability to climb stairs and stand for extended periods
  • Temperature Tolerance: Comfortable working in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13 ˚C (55 ˚F)
