Job #4865 – Our client, a well-established Canadian consulting engineering firm recognized for its innovative work on complex architectural and infrastructure projects, is seeking a seasoned Senior Financial Controller. Reporting directly to the President, this is a key leadership role for a polished and capable finance professional who brings integrity, strong business acumen, and excellent communication skills to the table. You will act as a trusted advisor and hands-on leader, managing day-to-day financial operations and financial reporting requirements while contributing strategic insight to support the company’s growth. - Present monthly financial reports and analysis to the President
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations to ensure accuracy
- Monitor cash flow and forecast short-term funding needs
- Develop annual budgets with leadership and provide ongoing profitability forecasts
- Analyze financial reports including project costs, customer accounts, vendor payments and auditor requests
- Oversee client account reconciliation, collections, and shareholder loan management
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and software efficiency
- Liaise with corporate accountants, insurance, and security providers
- Ensure compliance with regulations and handle annual insurance renewals
- Maintain accurate financial records, including year-end accruals and adjustments
- Manage client billing, expense payments, and tax filings
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure timely submission of employment records and tax documents
- Recruit, train, and manage administrative and accounting staff; assign duties and evaluate performance

Qualifications
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting required
- A completed CPA designation is preferred but not mandatory
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in accounting with at least 3 years in a management role
- Excellent understanding of ASPE
- Good communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Previous professional services or construction experience considered an asset
- Proficient in Excel
How You Will Be Rewarded:
- $115,000 - $135,000 salary range
