The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking (11) Casual Security Guard 2's to work in the Security Services department. This is an exciting and valuable opportunity for anyone embarking on a law enforcement career. CAMH Security Services offers above industry average salary and benefits as well as opportunities for full-time placements.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Security Services, the successful candidate will provide security services and assistance to CAMH patients, visitors, staff and volunteers to promote a safe and secure environment. The Security Guard will assist with safety matters; report and respond to emergencies, patrol hospital buildings and grounds; and complete various reports. Other duties include ensuring that all Security and Safety procedures are maintained; protection of life and property; incident investigations; liaising with Emergency responders and the removal of unauthorized persons. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and effective communication as well as complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position involves shift rotation (day, evening, and night) and weekend work. Must adhere to minimum availability. These positions are located at 1001 Queen Street West.

Job Requirements

  • A valid PSIS’s Security Guard License is required.
  • Will possess 2 Years Community College education in law enforcement field or be in progress of completion.
  • You must have 6 months - 1 year of security experience and be First Aid/CPR Certified.
  • 1 year healthcare experience would be an asset.

You possess the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public, staff and patients. You will be a motivated team player with a positive service-oriented approach. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated sensitivity towards mental health and addictions clientele. The incumbent must be able to work with minimal supervision, problem-solve and exercise good judgment in varied situations. The successful candidate will possess basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office and Outlook. You will have the ability to cope with physical demands of work. Ability to work with diverse clients and staff is required. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
