Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled, hands-on Full Stack Software Developer to architect, develop, and deploy user-facing applications and backend services that power Symphona and our custom consulting solutions. You will work across our tech stack—Java, Python, Node.js, React, React Native, GraphQL, GCP and AWS—participating in every phase of the software lifecycle, from design discussions through production rollout, with a strong focus on performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust backend services in Java (Spring Boot), Python, and Node.js
• Build responsive, accessible frontend applications using React / Next.js and React Native
• Create and maintain GraphQL APIs (Apollo Federation, subgraphs) and RESTful endpoints
• Deploy and manage infrastructure on Google Cloud (Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub) and AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, CDK)
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code (unit, integration and end-to-end)
• Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews, and agile sprint ceremonies
• Ensure best practices in performance tuning, security hardening and WCAG accessibility
• Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, product owners, QA and DevOps to deliver high-quality solutions

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-time professional software development experience
• Backend: Java (Spring Boot), Python, Node.js (TypeScript/JavaScript)
• Frontend: React / Next.js (TypeScript/JavaScript), React Native
• Solid experience with microservices architecture
• Proficiency in GraphQL API design (Apollo Server, Federation, subgraphs)
• Cloud & DevOps skills: GCP (Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub), AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, CDK), Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab/Bitbucket
• Database experience: PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB
• Testing frameworks: JUnit, Jest, Cypress or equivalent
• CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows
• Deep understanding of application security, performance optimization and accessibility standards
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and cross-functional teamwork
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging and communication skills
• Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident

• Exposure to generative AI APIs or prompt engineering
• Serverless architecture experience (AWS Lambda, Step Functions)
• Performance or cost optimization expertise in cloud environments
• Knowledge of internationalization/localization best practices
• Contributions to open-source projects or a strong personal development portfolio

Compensation

• Base salary range: $100,000 – $125,000 CAD per year, commensurate with experience
