Turf Care Technician - Silvertip

We are looking for a Seasonal Turf Care Technician for the upcoming summer season for our Silvertip Resort at Canmore, Alberta. Position Summary

Reporting to the Superintendent - The Turf Care Technician is responsible for the maintenance and management of the golf course's turf areas, ensuring optimal playing conditions and visual quality. This role involves performing a variety of agronomic tasks, including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, and pest management, while adhering to safety protocols and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform regular mowing, edging, and trimming of turf areas to maintain optimal height and appearance.
  • Conduct daily maintenance of bunkers, including raking, moving sand, edging, and rock picking.
  • Set up golf course tees and pin locations daily to the highest standards.
  • Assist in the maintenance of landscaping areas, including planting, pruning, and mulching.
  • Safely operate and maintain turf care equipment, such as mowers, utility vehicles, blowers, trimmers, and other machinery.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and the team.
  • Assist with seasonal preparations, such as winterization of turf areas and spring cleanup.
  • Respond to emergencies, such as equipment malfunctions or severe weather conditions, to ensure safety and minimal disruption.
  • Document daily maintenance activities and necessary information as directed by the supervisor.
  • Engage with guests, providing information about turf care practices and answering questions about the golf course.
  • Report incidents or accidents promptly, ensuring proper follow-up procedures are followed.
  • Dispose of yard waste and debris properly, maintaining a clean and safe environment around the course.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid AB driver license or willing to obtain an AB license.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for working outdoors.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ability to operate and maintain turf care machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Lift to 50lbs occasionally, 30lbs frequently, and 20lbs constantly.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions, with a strong focus on teamwork.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Demonstrate professional radio etiquette.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Previous experience in turf care, landscaping, or a related field is an asset but not required.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada; we don't provide working visas.

Duration: This is a Full-Time seasonal position, April to November. Overtime during busy periods may be required.
