Calgary Housing (CH) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the City of Calgary. CH is a purpose-driven social enterprise and the largest housing operator in Calgary, providing safe and affordable housing to more than 27,000 Calgarians. As a Business Analyst, you will ensure that business requirements for technology solutions and other CHC related services are clearly understood and accurately translated into technical specifications. You will analyze and investigate business problems and continuous improvement opportunities, and subsequently recommend technology solutions. Primary duties include:

  • Determine, define and document end-user requirements and business specifications with the required acceptance criteria. Investigate non-functional requirements by analyzing system architecture, reporting needs, and data quality.
  • Anticipate, investigate, identify business operations improvement opportunities and make solution recommendations with data to Product Owners and/or management teams.
  • Collaborate with the delivery team, business users, and Product Owners to ensure that designed solutions meet business needs, validate the solution into production and monitor results post release.
  • Develop and maintain business process documentation.
  • Complete quality assurance measures to ensure that all data, solutions, implementations and recommendations are thoroughly researched to achieve the highest standard results.
  • Take a lead role in project management to ensure goals are met within the designated timeframe and within budget.

Qualifications

  • A completed diploma in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems or related area and at least 5 years of experience in quality assurance, systems development or business re-engineering, OR;
  • A degree in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems or related area and at least 4 years of experience in quality assurance, systems development or business re-engineering.
  • Certification as a Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP), Certified Project Manager (PMP/Scrum), Master Data Management (MDM) or Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) with workflow design will be considered an asset.
  • Experience with Yardi, BlueWorks or other process and information modeling tools, data reporting and querying tools, and Business Rules Management System (BRMS) will also be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide business analysis services including business process management, current state analysis, and solution recommendations across multiple projects in an agile environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical, systems-thinking and problem-solving skills with exceptional communication skills and a focus on understanding multiple parties¿ requirements with the ability to negotiate to common goals and outcomes.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. Such arrangements are based on the operational requirements of the position and employee suitability and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Pay Grade 11 $44.76 - 59.84 per hour

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day

work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
