As a Program Assistant in Mental Health and Substance Use with VCH, you will:
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide administrative/clerical support.
- Receive verbal/written referrals for new patients/clients, answer telephones and greets clients, coordinate patient appointments and respond to general inquiries.
- Arrange meetings and attends departmental meetings to record notes or take minutes.
- Sets up and maintains filing systems, maintains timekeeping records and completes on-line purchase requisitions for equipment and supplies.
- Types/transcribes a variety of healthcare documentation, medical dictation/consultations, correspondence, reports and presentations utilizing intermediate word processing and spreadsheet software.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Grade 12, supplemented with courses in medical transcription and two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Ability to type 50 wpm.
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
